Mamata Banerjee 'Attack' Case: Bengal Govt Submits Report To EC, No Mention Of 'Four-Five' Attackers

<p><strong>Kolkata:</strong> The Chief Secretary of West Bengal has submitted a report to the Election Commission on Friday regarding the alleged attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.</p> <p>The report sent by the Bengal government to the Election Commission does not mention the claim of attack by four-five people. An official of the State Election Commission revealed the development. Banerjee was injured in Birulia Bazar in East Medinipur district on March 10 during campaigning after filing nomination papers for the Nandigram seat. Banerjee had alleged that she was injured after being manhandled 'four-five' people.</p> <p><strong>"It is not possible to come to any conclusion"</strong></p> <p>A senior district administration official told news agency PTI, &ldquo;CCTV was installed in a shop in the area but it was not working. Local people, eyewitnesses have got mixed opinion. Therefore, it is not possible to reach any conclusion&rdquo;.</p> <p><strong>The EC asked for more information</strong></p> <p>After filing nomination papers for Nandigram constituency on Wednesday, Mamata Banerjee suffered leg injury after being allegedly manhandled during the election campaign After the incident, the election asked the Chief Secretary Alapan Bandopadhyay, Special Supervisor Ajay Nayak and Special Police Supervisor Vivek Dubey to submit the report by Friday evening.</p> <p>The Chief Secretary has been asked to provide information by Saturday evening. Since both the observers were on a visit on Friday, they have demanded a time till Saturday evening to submit their report.</p>
