<p><strong>Republic Day 2021 LIVE Updates: </strong> India is observing its 72nd Republic Day on Tuesday and will show its military might and cultural heritage on Tuesday. The celebrations will be muted this year due to Covid-19 pandemic and will be full of many firsts. It will be the first ever time when Rafale fighter jets will be taking part in the Republic Day flypast. Also in over 50 years of history, it is the first time that there will be no chief guest at the event. British PM Boris Johnson who had accepted India’s invitation, however, could not participate due to the second wave of covid-19 in UK. Also, a 122-member proud contingent of the Bangladesh armed forces will also march on Rajpath.</p> <p>The armed forces will also be showcasing T-90 tanks, the Samvijay electronic warfare system, Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jets, among others.</p> <p>Total 32 tableaus -- 17 from states and union territories, six from the Defence ministry and nine from other Union ministries and paramilitary forces -- depicting the nation's rich cultural heritage, economic progress and defence prowess will roll down the Rajpath at the Republic Day parade, the Defence ministry said in a statement.</p> <p>"School children will perform folk arts and crafts displaying skills and dexterity handed down from generations -- Bajasal, one of the most beautiful folk dances of Kalahandi in Odisha, Fit India Movement and Aatmanirbhar Bharat," the ministry noted.</p> <p><strong>President Kovind will take the salute: </strong></p> <p>The Republic Day parade ceremony will commence with Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting the National War Memorial . As per tradition, the national flag will be unfurled followed by the national anthem with a booming 21-gun salute, it said.</p> <p>The parade will commence with President Ram Nath Kovind taking the salute at Rajpath, the ministry added.</p> <p><strong>Farmers' tractor parade:</strong></p> <p>Heavy security has been deployed in view of the unprecedented 'Kisan Gantantra Parade' that will move into Delhi from three border points Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur (UP Gate).<br /><br />The farmer unions protesting for nearly two months against the three new Central farm laws said on Monday their tractor parade will start only after the official Republic Day parade on Rajpath concludes.<br /><br />They claimed around two lakh tractors are expected to participate in the parade in a show of strength and support.</p>
